ubunutuME without DansGuardian

Assalamu alaikum,  

 

I installed ubuntuME on top of ubuntu following the instructions at: http://ubuntume.com/installation  

 

It was very good. However, I didn't like dansguardian because it wouldn't even allow me to download any files such as .bin or anything.  

 

I know you are able to change this setting, but I wanted to disable dansguardian all together as I saw no benefit in it.  

 

Is it possible to download a ubunutuME version without dansguardian in it?

You can just remove danguardian manually by doing:  

 

Code:

sudo aptitude remove ubuntumeWCC

 

 

Or when you install just enter the packages manually instead of using the main metapackage i.e.  

 

Code:

sudo aptitude install islamiccal zekr ubuntume-artwork minbar

 

 

Hope that helps.  

 

I personally don't use dansguardian at all, disabled it in WCC because it completely kills my connection i.e. it doesn't even let me connect to the internet for some reason :S (I guess its my settings. I would have liked to try/test it but it doesn't work )

Version 0.3 of WCC is available.  

In this version we have removed the Firehol dependency to speed up the Internet connection ; so you could remove the Firehol package:

sudo aptitude remove firehol
